$2.1 Million in Grants Awarded from the Minnesota Disaster Recovery Fund

Minnesota Council on Foundations and Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation Award $2.1 Million in Round Two Grant Funding

The Minnesota Council on Foundations (MCF) in partnership with the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation (the Foundation) has awarded $2.1 million from the Minnesota Disaster Recovery Fund for coronavirus to second round grantees.

Based on recommendations by the MDRF Advisory Committee, 14 grantees will receive fund disbursements supporting communities most impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. Funding will provide assistance to nonprofits that provide support for immigrants, small businesses, tribal members, domestic and sexual violence survivors, Latinx undocumented workers, food shelves, Islamic community centers and services, disabled individuals, vulnerable populations, and other historically marginalized communities.

Funds were awarded to:

  • CAPI USA ($150,000)
  • CLUES ($400,000)
  • Duluth-Superior Area Community Foundation ($50,000)
  • Headwaters Foundation for Justice ($50,000)
  • Hunger Solutions Minnesota ($250,000)
  • Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC) ($200,000)
  • Lower Sioux Indian Community ($200,000)

Nonprofit Think Small was a first round grant recipient. President and Chief Executive Barbara Yates shared that they have distributed their $200,000 MDRF for coronavirus grant to 200 family childcare providers serving children of essential workers. “This grant is really making a difference — literally keeping childcare businesses open in the metro area,” said Yates.

The Minnesota Disaster Recovery Fund for coronavirus continues to grow and receive support from contributors doing their part to support Minnesota communities most impacted.
